If you found the kitten under the house, it's probably still too unsure of people to be playful. It is normal for them to hide. Get it to the vet as soon as possible to make sure he is not sick, as that would cause the kitty to be lethargic. Most healthy kittens are bundles of energy once they are able to get around comfortably.

I got my kitten when she was 6 weeks old and she attacked anything that moved. She was so playful it was torture. We had to learn to just laugh at her and appreciate her for who she was. She has calmed down now though.

I say that the start getting really cute, cuddly and playful around 6-12 months old, this is at least when my cats started to get playful. (They could have gotten playful a little early, but i got mine from shelters!)

Well, I wonder how old your new kitten is? The vet can give you a good clue as to his/her age. I raise a bunch of kittens once and as soon as their eyes were opened and they could walk around with good balance they started to play like crazy. Since your kitten seems to have been abandoned by himself it may take it a while longer. Probably a couple of weeks. Don't get discouraged...he/she will start to get playful probably just scared right now. Hang in there and make sure you get it to the vets to get it checked out and tested for feline leukemia and get his/her shots. Good luck with your new pet.

lol, no they are suppose to be playful, or suppose to be any mood, it depends on the cat, they all have their own personality. U need to play with it, but if it just doesn't want to be playful, it may not ever, and u may have to except that. It's just that way.....

It is not an age issue. He could be sick, and he's probably not used to people. Try giving him a lot of attention and feed him from your hand so he gets to feel comfortable with you.
